I really want to try this game but the lack of courses and limited depth of career concerns me. I love the golf club but it's very limited aside from the infinite amount of courses. I like the idea of building a character and the beautiful presentation ea offers but I must try it on course first. Wish there was a demo on psn

Are you aware they put in harder/hardest driver difficulties in the last patch for The Golf Club? Much harder to hit fairways on the hardest driving mode than any EA golf game in my experience.

Seriously though, I'm looking forward to a day soon where an update or two fixes some of the common criticisms of the game in its current state. I still think there's a foundation for a good golf game here...
This is what was meant by "Golf Without Limits". Or on Facebook there is an ad to like that says "Golf Your Way"

Hitting ways isn't then hallege itd generating and guessing the distance you may actually hit it. It's highly inconsistent. It's also not much entertainment watching drives go 230 yards in no wind conditions. This updated mechanic really ruins the short game.

This latest fix is game breaking imo

LOL.... I get your drift! It doesn't beat the hell of it for me at this point though. In fact, it still falls short of The Golf ODO Club for what I'm looking for out of a golf game. I'm not sure I can truly define what it is I like about The Golf Club more, but it just feels and plays like a more fluid, coordinated game to me. Plus, I'm just a slightly better than average golf gamer, so the one difficulty TGC has is more closely suited to my game, although I'll admit it's too easy to hit the ball straight.

I don't want anyone to think that I'm belittling RMPGAT because people are using house rules to play it... heck, I play and enjoy Tiger Woods PGA 10 to the degree I do because of some pretty drastic and technical house rules; more so than anything I've seen in anyone's RM house rules so far. The problem with house rules though is they usually make for an inequitable and/or unenforceable experience in online multiplayer matches and tournaments. If there was a set of house rules I could put into effect for RMPGAT that I thought would work for me right now, I'd own the game. I just know from my experience with the Early Access version that I couldn't find that point.

RMPGAT is nowhere near the game right now that I think it will be as little as three months from now. At some point sooner than that, I think there will be an option to turn the swing meter off and the new swing difficulty options might get it closer to what I'm after.

TGC is THE most simplistic Golf game I have EVER played. What it does, it does well, but for the above average to Elite Golf video game user, it is like playing on rails to me. I know others feel differently and that is great! Right now, with my current settings, RM is giving me one helluva PGA TOUR Golf experience and challenge. Fans can and are crucifying RM and rightly so in well known areas, but when it comes to gameplay, RM has TGC beat in every single area, IMO. Ain't it great we have choices? Can't wait to see what HANDSWARD has cooked up for TOUR mode......

I'd appreciate that.
Thanks

Try playing TGC with zero aids and tell me how easy it is.

No green grid, no cam zoom, no wind indicator , no auto club selection. Etc.

I have played that way and actually played RGT a few tournaments. RM is a better and more realistic challenge. You don't have to like that opinion, but it is mine. If you disagree, c'est la vie.

It is not easy, but it is not real.
With no indicators you do not know what to do but does not simulate the logical error rate of a swing.
The only way to simulate the risk and frequency with which we lose a faiway is with 3 clicks mode.

Yeah, it's hard to overstate the incredible variety and quantity of wonderful courses on TGC that people have created. And it's very easy to stay aware of the good ones (thanks for TGC Tour site, and a couple Youtube Review Channels). Some true gems of courses, as good as any digital courses I've ever played on any system.

You are confusing AI challenge to actual GAMEPLAY challenge and TGC his one and only one difficulty setting. RM has infinite ways to challenge the user the way THE USER wants to play, not play the way the Developer plays and that is your only choice. RM has easy Arcade difficulty settings all the way to a VERY challenging TOUR mode and 3-click modes that can seriously challenge the most experienced users.....

Gamefly or rent it. Base your decision on what YOU see with the game instead of relying on other's opinions.

Still too early.....ask in about 6 months...LOL. It has a ways to go to catch TW14 in content. In gameplay, it is pretty damn good IMO.

Well I just won the Bay Hill Invitational tied at -20. I play with no green grids and I can say it's not easy reading the greens but I feel that's the only way for me to get the challenge I'm looking for. My golfer is OVR 67/Level 30

I haven't made the switch to 3-Click yet even though I've played a few practice rounds. I want to wait to see what EA does with the difficulty before I jump completely on that wagon.

Overall I'm really digging this game with the changes I've made.

Good Lord... I was watching some streams on PS4 last night and stumbled across this. Is this a Birdie Simulator? How can that be fun? Oh - and he eagled that hole. LoL

No way, it barely scratches the surface of what TW14 offers. Just read this thread alone, and you'll see all the things that made this such a disappointment. If they would have just upgraded TW14 graphics, and left everything else alone, I would have gladly paid $100 for it.

This is just not true. The Golf Club offers all the same options in regards to simulation. Really the only differences are in arcade mode with power boost and spin control post shot and the automatic putt reader.

In The Golf Club there are multiple driver difficulties, and all the same options to turn off camera zooms, green grids, and wind speed indicators to make the game more challenging. Playing with all the options turned off and highest difficulty is much more challenging in The Golf Club than RM in my experience, even though I like RM better.

RM does not have infinite ways to challenge the user that is ludicrous. The Golf Club certainly has its drawbacks in regards to presentation and is not perfect but easy on the EA propaganda...

My hope is the new patch for RM makes the swing mechanism more sensitive/challenging (how about a slider), as well the ability to turn of the swing meter icon, and stupid post shot animations.
