FIFA 16 News Post

FIFA 16 is getting some new toys in Career mode, including two highly requested features: Pre-Season Tournaments as well as Player Training.

Pre-Season Tournaments

You'll no longer simply skip through the summer months, now you'll have the opportunity to play in three out of a possible nine tournaments played in Asia, Europe, Latin America, or North America. Just as with real clubs, these matches will allow you to work on tactics and line-ups.

As an added bonus, each tournament has a prize purse you can win and add to your transfer budget. If you are a small squad, you can imagine how this can help.

Player Training

You'll now be able to train your squad via mini-games to increase player attributes and boost player development. You'll be able to train up to five squad players each week.

Story of the Season

The story elements to your season will be highlighted this year -- including notable player or team performances, big player debuts, as well as transfer rumors. These will be presented in-game with commentary and graphical overlays.

A Few Other Big Additions
  • You can now sign free agents outside of the transfer window.
  • Scouting reports are now available for an entire year.
  • Transfer budgets are more realistic, and any overages transfer to your next year.
  • Short loans are now six months instead of three, and there's also an option for two-year loans.
  • Unlimited subs during friendlies.
  • More realistic number of 'high-profile' moves in the transfer window.
  • Improved transfer market player values.

30 year career is all I ask...

Some good stuff in there but also some questionable and noticeably missing items.

I see Stoke in a preseason tournament that pays out 10.5 mil?

Where are release clauses?

2 year loans? How about the ability to pull your loanee if he's not getting playing time or the ability to scout the club you're going to send your loanee too to find either a club that he'll get time at and/or one that mirrors/closely resembles your system?

When they say that there will be more realistic "high profile" transfers does this mean there will be more transfers and loans as a whole? I really hope that EA doesn't think there were too many "high profile" transfers last year which they've toned down this year. I just simmed through an entire year in career mode and there were several teams in the BPL that made ZERO transfers or loans. Also, no mention of a transaction log of some sort?

I hope they give us the option to tweak players positions. It gets so old having a 68 overall LB that is an 85 overall striker.....I know, just play him at striker....
but when he eventually wants to leave I'll get a fraction of the transfer money he's really worth.

I like what they've said so far. But I really, fool-heartily, expected much more for CM this year.

I like the additions this year. I love the unlimited subs in friendlies and player training depending on how it works, and the preseason tournaments are cool. The budget stuff is nice. I just need the mode to last longer.

The game needs this BADLY.

I've already pre-ordered this year's FIFA just like I do every year, because I know I'm going to get my money's worth no matter what. But having said that, there really isn't that "One Big Thing™" that has jumped out and caught my attention so far this year. I'm not saying there aren't a ton of cool improvements because there are, just nothing that makes me say "OH WOW" like BPL presentation did last year, or new-gen goodness did the year before that. The one thing I can guarantee would have blown my mind is the return of Creation Centre on current-gen, but now that looks highly unlikely.

When the release date draws near I'm sure I'll start getting hype, but apart from the general on-pitch improvements -- which do sound awesome -- there's nothing I've seen that makes me want to shelve FIFA 15 right away.

Old gen FIFA 15 career mode had a transfer transaction log but it disappeared when I upgraded to next generation FIFA 15.

Not only does it need the transfer log, it needs to actually keep records/stats. Its something that has always bothered me to no end. That there is no year to year records of all player and league stats/records. The game can't even handle keeping your manager year to year records properly. Its pathetic.

Were pre-season tournaments and player training really highly requested? I remember training was in the FIFA 14 WC game, and it was glitched so that player ratings actually went down if you skipped them. Those mini games get old after a while.

I missed this at first, but the ability to sign free agents outside of the transfer window is huge. I've had a few careers where I had small rosters due to injuries late in the season, and had to end up playing guys way out of position. So this is nice.

Also scouting reports finally lasting an entire year is fantastic.

Disappointed they didn't improve loans. The ability to split the salary needs to be added. And as others have mentioned, to shop out a player to go on loan needs to be added.

And the wording of this has me concerned they are going to do the opposite of what needs to be done:
While the transfer window is open, the number of ‘high-profile’ moves by big players has been tuned to better match the number that typically happen in the real-world.

Really sucks no improvements to youth academy as others have stated. Also there doesn't seem to be any real big changes to improve the GTN.

Also not so sure the story of the season thing will work as intended. But we shall see.

You can choose the players and just sim them each week if you'd like.

I'm excited for the preseason tournaments. I just hope they're done right. I hope in my MLS career I can host some of the powerhouses on my home field. It'll also be fun for my Chelsea career to play some young guys. Although with these large purses I may not be willing to take too much a skeleton crew with me.

I do really hope that they've improved Youth Squads. I'm pretty optimistic they've fixed some of the worst issues, but we will see.

I have the same exact concern as you. The wording just has me thinking that people were complaining about too many high profile players transferring in game. In reality it is FAR less than what it needs to be. Though if you do click on the link it does state that transfers should be more in line with what goes on IRL.

I think the logic needs to be adjusted. Like Real shouldn't sign Aguero in the summer window of the 2015-16 season and then in the winter window sign Lewandowski and not get rid of Benzema and Aguero.

Truthfully the entire transfer system just needs to be re built. I mean seeing a team transfer 2 players total in the winter and summer transfer window is above average in game, while IRL it's WAY beyond that. I mean Liverpool alone has what 8 transfers just in the summer window alone. Hopefully someone can shed some light on the transfer system soon.

The additions sound great, but I sincerely hope you can turn firings off. I'm so tired of spending hours upon hours trying to find workarounds.

Is it September yet?

I'm wondering if the preseason tournaments will even be available if you start a career in MLS because of the calendar difference? From the FIFA 16 website:

Quote:
During the summer months, all the major clubs travel around the world in preparation for the upcoming season. In FIFA 16, we are introducing this key development period to Career Mode. Prior to a given season, your club will be invited to three out of a possible nine tournaments, played in Asia, Europe, Latin America, or North America.
