FIFA 16 News Post

FIFA 16 is getting some new toys in Career mode, including two highly requested features: Pre-Season Tournaments as well as Player Training.

Pre-Season Tournaments

You'll no longer simply skip through the summer months, now you'll have the opportunity to play in three out of a possible nine tournaments played in Asia, Europe, Latin America, or North America. Just as with real clubs, these matches will allow you to work on tactics and line-ups.

As an added bonus, each tournament has a prize purse you can win and add to your transfer budget. If you are a small squad, you can imagine how this can help.

Player Training

You'll now be able to train your squad via mini-games to increase player attributes and boost player development. You'll be able to train up to five squad players each week.

Story of the Season

The story elements to your season will be highlighted this year -- including notable player or team performances, big player debuts, as well as transfer rumors. These will be presented in-game with commentary and graphical overlays.

A Few Other Big Additions
  • You can now sign free agents outside of the transfer window.
  • Scouting reports are now available for an entire year.
  • Transfer budgets are more realistic, and any overages transfer to your next year.
  • Short loans are now six months instead of three, and there's also an option for two-year loans.
  • Unlimited subs during friendlies.
  • More realistic number of 'high-profile' moves in the transfer window.
  • Improved transfer market player values.

Now, I'm ready for that soundtrack announcement!

Player Training: They say you'll be able to train your "youth players". Does this mean you'll be able to train your Youth Academy players before you call them up? OR just the younger players on your current squad?

Maybe it really doesn't matter either way, but I'm curious...

Hello!

I couldn't agree more! Particularly concerning the stats records from year to year for every palyer in every league/competiton.
IRL a clubs that want to recruit a player can scout him to have an idea of its skills and overall level but there is no way they can figure out precisely the player rating as we do IG. The only thing that can give a club an objective evaluation of a player is its stats sheet including not only goals and assists but also rate of pass success, tackle success, dribble succes and so on... But when you think that in past editions of fifa the league table is the only thing that you can look at in others leagues (also there is no way to know the winner of others domestic cups winners!), this stats records is not close to happen.

By the way did you noticed that the track of other leagues tables is somehow random, for example from week to week the number of defeat of lets say Barcelona can be two, then five, then three!??
This is something that really annoys me... If other leagues evolution is not continuous but instead occurs in several parrallel dimensions at the same time then of course there is no point to give us player stats!!!

Cheers!!!

THIS!

I really dont know why it's not in the game, its ridiculous! I remember playing NHL 2001 and I had stat-sheets of all the players.

Having a record of cup winners, top scorers, transfer moves for more than a year is maybe one of the most important things to create the illusion of realism in career modes.

To get involved in the game I wanna know more about the teams I play against, I wanna know who won last years titles, who scored the most goals etc.
Otherwise the whole illusion kind of breaks down.

I hardly doubt that the "story" part they wanna include is any good if they dont provide us with at least a small amount of those things that make manager/career modes great.

Up to now it was a total joke! Like you guys said, no transfer log and the other league tables were just randomized and not consistent.

For the first time ever this year I might need to take a vacation day on Tuesday to get an entire day of FIFA in.

You don't know that, that bug hasn't been fixed. They won't announce the YA working properly as feature.

The player training is the most important to me. I am tired of 30 goals with Memphis and him not getting any better.

Really like the sound of the additions they have made to Career Mode this year

I like the changes and ability to choose preseason games again. Like others stated the youth academy needs any change as it's been the same forever . This is probably the problem with FUT modes in all sports games as they take away designers/devs time from focusing on real game modes that have been staple for years the franchise/career mode and instead update dumb sports Pokemon card game .

No they don't...2 different modes=2 different development teams.

If you have 100 Developers and you decide to implement a FUT-Mode into your game you're not gonna hire 100 new Developers and build a completely new 2nd Unit for another game mode.
Of course other parts of the game are going to suffer when you put more modes in it.
And since those FUT Modes are the Cash Cow I dont think classical singleplayer modes will get the attention they need over the next few years.

We get NBC when they do the Premier League and it is handled very very VERY well. We actually get more games broadcast here than you guys do in England last I checked (weird how that works). Kind of ironic huh?

American's are falling in love with soccer (football) through and through, and it is amazing. Just this year actually, Fox Sports 1 (the main people who are really handling MLS, because ESPN are a bunch of *** backwards "lol soccer sucks" idiots) is covering the Bundesliga.

I'm really looking forward to all of that.

I think Terrycurran was referring to how the presentation is in the US version of Fifa 15.

Both versions of the game have the same SKY presentation for the EPL.

A few years ago, they did ESPN presentation for MLS games. Wish they would bring that back or a Fox Sports 1 style.

Any word yet on whether there will be co-op online Career Mode?

Fantastic news...being honest, I'll buy FIfa every year no matter what. Bad I know... but I like the graphics, kits, licenses etc. and even though I hate that isn't realistic enough, I still get it, so I am very glad to hear stuff like this. A step in the right direction anyway, I player career mode the most.

Unlimited subs in preseason is a good addition, especially if your 60 rated player asks to play. You can just play him a little bit then sub him out, just like IRL.

I also like the addition of preseason tournaments, however I wonder if you play in a preseason tournament will you still have regular friendlies outside the pre season tournament along with the tournament games.

The two year loan is a nice touch, but there needs to be a change in the AI, so more higher rated guys go out on loan.

Amen, 15 years is too short, especially if you want to have a player go through his career and then become a manager

With no NCAA football games, in FIFA there are plenty of clubs to take over from smaller leagues and help grow them.

This and older players never get loaned out in game. If you try to loan someone over the age of 21/22 (at least in my experience), the other team will tell you that they're not looking to loan him out. It happens all the time in real life though. For instance, if a club gets relegated and they have a player whose wages are above the club's means, but they might want him back the following season. Or if an older player is unhappy about playing time, but no one wants to pay for a full transfer. Just little things.

I like everything I hear.

Those who ask for 30 year career, you guys have too much time in your hands I can hardly finish 4-5 seasons. Playing online doesn't help obviously.

Preseason tournaments is nice. As much as I can't wait each season to start, it's also nice to have a chance to try out some guys, see what I have before league starts. Especially if it gives me opportunity to add to the budget, even better. More purpose for preseason. I usually play all the youngsters and subs in friendlies. Unlimited subs is a great addition for that purpose. Make everyone happy preseason.

Of course we'll still get that 50 overall guy saying "boss I feel good, play me in the next game" when you're going into the EPL season. "in your dreams buddy".

2 year loans is good, hopefully it goes both ways. I'd like to get rid of some youngsters for 2 years and not have to deal with them again every season until they become something remotely good to become a sub for the squad.

I never bother with youth academy. I feel like most EPL sides have enough youngsters that can go on loan for development and come back after a few seasons to be implemented into the system. Other than that, "loan and sign youngsters" is my academy.
