NBA 2K16 News Post

Wow.

That three-letter word sums up my quick trip to the 2K Hangar to get my hands on NBA 2K16.

Before I get into the nitty-gritty, this article will strictly be about on-court gameplay. MyCAREER information will be coming out on Monday, and you’ll find it here on Operation Sports. Also on Monday you will see some gameplay footage (at last!) from some of your favorite NBA teams.

Okay with that information out of the way, let's play basketball.

That left me curious as well because Boogie damn near lead the league in usage. But the flipside of that is how do things change with a full year of Karl and Rondo.

As a Kings fan I can tell you Boogie is very ball dominant. I expect that to change. I expect Rondo to be getting everyone involved, but it won't lead to Gay ball hogging

I'm wondering if it has to do with the Kings just running with the hot hand, although I would assume that a defensive adjustment would be made eventually and Lebron would be assigned to shut down Gay. Not sure if that would be an adjustment made by the user or if the adjustment would automatically be made.

Gay shoots 16 shots a game to Boogies 18 so
we will just have to see if it's a consistent thing....

I just want to know if Gay is still God status lol

wow...that quote by Mike Wang at the end has me salivating. we know 2k's devs have extremely high standards, and they are harder on their game than anyone...so for them to feel that good about the game definitely means something. this game is going to be a masterpiece...i can feel it.

Ain't that the truth, the Kings was to me one of the more powerful online teams because of Rudys as you call it god status and McLemores baseline dunk cheese he could do all day long.

The quote by Mike at the end is what has me the most excited. Hopefully that translates to the user vs cpu games as well, hoping that the CPU doesn't use the bodying defense to force the user into canned animations. I truly believe this year is the year that we'll get out of that legacy issue, and really start seeing the game take off.

2 more weeks.

This game is going to get 7/10 if they don't fix the online issue that plague last year's game. 2k15 was terrible online...but great offline. So far, all i hear about is offline, nothing online. Not even one single piece of info. Remember, 2k15 got bad ratings due to virtually unplayable online mode not offline.

What are you waiting to hear about online.?

For them to say that "it's better"?

Technical jargon?

We all want the servers to improve...but I don't quite get what news you want as of right now....the real test will be when the game is here....

Everyone wants reassurance their concerns have been addressed. They've told us how gameplay is better, i wouldn't mind the same about online.

They could make some promises, which would be a bad idea...but it'd just be talk until we sign on....

Last time they talked about this, half he responses is "we'll see when we play" anyway....

I'm right there with tall as far as wanting it improved though, don't get me wrong...

You can't stress test online until everyone gets on first.

I mean these guys are primarily letting us know what the core game is like which is most important.

Sports games don't test servers like shooters do

Great write up Dustin, thank you.

-DeMarcus Cousins was 3rd in the league in usage rate at 34.1%.
-Rudy Gay was tied for 17th in the league at 27%.

I just don't get why people are saying it's realistic that Boogie didn't touch the ball...
I'm fearful that that box score of the game Dustin played looked like this:
Rudy Gay 17 for 26
DeMarcus Cousins 6 for 9

As always I wish we'd hear less about meaningless overall ratings and more about TENDENCIES which drive everything that you see happen.
Da Czar and OG kept bringing up the AI asking the question, "Who are you, who am I?" Do you think that they are talking about ratings??? Hopefully tendencies are on point.

I wish nba 2k would be considered in that honor but they only give those titles to games like Warcraft or skyrim. If 2k had turn based combat or looting , then the reviewers would give it a 10. Look at Metal Gear Solid 5 although a good game, it has horrible servers. They gave it a Perfect 10.

I've had the same concern, and have been asking about it for others with access to ask (to no avail).

I did however ask Stauffer in the chat of last week's SimHangout about tendencies. I don't have the exact response, but he did say tendencies (I'm paraphrasing from memory) got an overhaul or at least consistent attention to go with attributes to provide game balance and realism. I was also asking about draft classes and this is what he was saying.

It's not a very deep response, and the chat room was busy, but this at least is what I can report 2k claims, as far as it goes.
