Offensive Captain: Jason Wade, Senior, 6-5 290lb from Shaker Heights, Ohio. Jason is the son of Jim and Connie Wade. He has 2 younger adopted brothers, Jarred and Steve. Jason enrolled in Alaska State after his family moved to Anchorage this past fall. Jason was a All-Ohio star at Shaker Heights, but turned down numerous D1 offers to help in the family shoe business. After 3 years of Junior College ball, the family business fell through and Jason and his family moved to Anchorage. His dad found a job as a supervisor at the local electric plant and his mom has a stay at home craft business. Jason is majoring in Fish Management with a minor in Business. He hopes to one day become a head football coach.
Defensive Captain: Roddy Malone, RS Junior, 6-1 218lbs fro Marathon, Florida. Roddy is the son of Roger and Caley Malone. Roddy played 2 years at USF before leaving sunny Florida after his dad was transferred to Elmendorf Air Force Base. Roddy decided to enroll at Alaska State and instantly improved the defense and was voted team defensive captain after the first practice. Roddy has a nose for the ball and is good in coverage as well. Look for him to lead the SnowCats in tackles this season.

The northernmost city in the United States with more than 100,000 residents has been named the next school to join the FBS. Alaska State University, a school boasting barely 9,000 students has been accepted into the Midwest Conference - West division of football competition, a position left vacant by San Jose State. Playing in a stadium barely bigger than most high school fields, the Snow Cats have arrived. Finishing touches have been put on team uniforms, the field, and the coaching staff. Relatively unknown Shannon Tietsworth, a native of Pennylvania, brings his offense and coaching staff to often cold and frigid Anchorage.
Known more for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, Anchorage will now boast its on college football team. Look out doggies, here come the Snow Cats!!

An influx of new residents spurred on by the ever-present oil industry, recently popularized fishing industry, and yes..GOLD. No folks, its not just on TV that gold is king, it's true in Alaska today more than ever. And people have taken notice. Just look at the roster at newly founded Alaska State University football team...26 student athletes alone from Ohio, another 11 in Pennsylvania, and 8 from all the way down in sunny Florida! All brought on by promises of fame and fortune. Families have packed up their stuff, and left family and friends behind, to start anew in Anchorage, Alaska. Although those industries are the most high profile, military families can also be found in Anchorage. The U. S. Air Force base sees its share of enrolled athletes in the school.
