Madden 09 News Post

Madden Planet has the scoop.

Quote:
"Update #3? At this point, we are not planning to release another update. We will continue to listen to our fans and if any other widespread issues come up we may change this plan but the fixes made in update #2 solved all of the major problems people were experiencing with the game. Those that continued to have problems had success after completely wiping their old Madden data from their hard drive.

DLC? Shortly before the release of Madden NFL 09, we had mentioned that we were looking into the possibility of releasing some post-launch DLC. At this point, DLC isn’t in the cards. Providing DLC is something that will stay on our radar down the road and is certainly something we’d love to provide to our most passionate fans, however at this stage we are no longer actively looking into this for 09."

This news is fine by me. I buy what is on the disc and that was clearly broken and lacking this year.

Pure and utter speculation on my part.

If it was MS/Sony's fault, they would have mentioned it. This is not suprising and the ongoing trend with this company. The Devs have no confidence or trust from me, ongoing shortcomings and unrealized expectations have driven me further and further away from this game. Two of my "Online Leagues" have shut down due to not being able to replace owners, and this game gets no playtime with fun games releasing all the time.

I'm so glad I came to this site when i was thinking of buying the game... although every site gave it high ratings (unfortunately)... with no more dlc and after listening to the input of everyone here on how terrible the game is, i am overjoyed that I didn't waste my money on this garbage... EA is concerned about one thing $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Probably going to trade my copy in soon, if I can't sell it.

And if you don't think EA does that b/c of the investors, then you are naive. The Investors want a game each year that will sell. You don't own stock in EA or give them any money, so your influence and opinion, as well as mine, mean nothing. That is what I mean by the corruption on wall street. And that is how it works.

I am sorry to hear you lost so much money, I really hope things get better for you, but I was just being sarcastic.

But, if you want to make a statement, no one buy the game next year, and when the sales plummet, so will the stock, and the investors will listen, so will EA. Otherwise, forget it
I thought that's what you were getting at, but just checking. Yes, I see your point about EA and investors. Thanks for the sentiments about my money . I hope I get it back too .

Not only does little Jimmy get no ice cream, the parents don't even tell him why. They just say, "Sorry Jimmy. We lied. We're not giving you any ice cream so go to bed." Jimmy just got shafted and never even got an explanation. The lack of an explanation is what makes it that much worse.

I'm sure Ian and Phil meant well when they promised the DLC. But they should at least have the guts to come on here and say we screwed up and why. Even if they can't say everything, say something.
Great analogy RudyJuly. The kid then doesn't want to eat the vegetables next time thinking he won't get the ice cream anyway. The question is, Are we going to keep eating the vegetables? Probably, because it is the only darn NFL game (new one) out there now. I still say I think we should lobby the NFL to drop the exclusive license to EA.

I am not happy about the DLC not coming out as you can see from my previous posts. I haven't played much (hardly any) Madden 09 because I was just waiting on the DLC since I don't have as much time anymore and I was busy playing NCAA Football 09, MLB 08 The Show, and both Hockey titles.

Doesn't the two controller method take care of the CPU sliders issue however?

I will miss the accelerated clock, but now that the CPU holds the ball longer on offense, is this really necessary? What are the best minutes now for a sim like game with the correct number of plays? 10 minutes?

Was there anything else on the DLC that was promised that is important that I'm forgetting?

EA blows on this one, Unbelievable, if Madden isn't PERFECT next year, yes Perfect, they lost my sale. I;m tired of all EA games needing a patch or patches every year, don't mess it up in production, take your time, I remember SNES days when Madden didn't come o0ut to truly fall times, end of September early august, take your time and release in the fall, not the summer.

There is little doubt in my mind that the free DLC was blocked by Sony and MS as they viewed it as what it was - a free third patch. EA was able to develop the DLC and I'm sure they had it ready to be implemented which is why I'm sure Ian and Phil are pissed they couldn't deliver it. But they should have gotten approval for this before it was even mentioned. Even us grown ups have little kid tendencies whose hopes were unnecessarily raised and then wrecked. It would be nice to get some further explanation though.
" EA was able to develop the DLC and I'm sure they had it ready to be implemented which is why I'm sure Ian and Phil are pissed they couldn't deliver it."

A question ......what indication did Ian and Phil provide that made them seem angry?

And furthermore...how does anyone know if it was ready to be implemented?

There was a post by Ian and I'm not going hunting for it where he said it was all working in game and they we're trying to figure out a way to get it to us, this was at least 3 weeks ago.

As for indication they are pissed, maybe by the fact they aren't posting in this or other threads lately, perhaps they are so angry their hands are shaking and they can't type.

Fair enough...I must have missed that one. I don't think them not posting has anything to do with the DLC, I think it has more to do with the backlash they have/would recieve for a mediocre game.

Let me ask you something. Why does it bother you so much that I enjoy Madden gameplay or that I went out and bought the PS2? Just curious. I mean, if you're going to call me out, the least you can do is have the balls to explain your reasoning.
Ah, just saw this now. I'll bite.

Your gaming habits don't bother me at all. I just find it funny you always defend EA no matter what. You're a broken record around here.

You're always the first in line to defend Madden to the end yet you wind up buying the last gen version every year because you're obviously not satisfied.

I just think it's kind of ironic how you love to gloss over everyone else's issues with the next gen games just because you happen to play one way and they play another...what was your silly bathroom picturesque quote? Wasn't it: "playing games for what they are, rather than what they should be?"...

that doesn't work for many people (I personally take Madden for what it is-an average at best franchise) but it's like your gospel around here. Not everyone likes to play their games at default as you do and thing like DLC, CPU sliders are a big deal for some people. I was looking forward to CPU sliders to be honest. I thought they would have helped the gameplay a great deal for the way I like my football to play.

You sure do like to push your mantra on everyone who is critical.

You always got a band-aid -- "blah blah blah just buy a second controller for dummy profiles - everyone needs a second controller eventually..."

"blah blah blah just pick it up for PS2 if you want to play franchise...''

"blah blah blah...just do this, just do that"

"blah blah blah they'll just patch all the bugs - every game has bugs and glitches..."

I find it particularly funny and personally enjoy these forums because I get to stumble on your EA lovefest in the OS forums as I cruise around. It makes me smile. You're like EA's little silver lining around here. It's entertaining and cute.

I'm sure CB can speak on his own behalf, but after this long drawn out post, I guess you haven't seen CB criticize Madden 09 , either. If you did, you would have mentioned it.

Your opinions are your opinions and this is none of my business, but let me just say this on the general topic. I find it funny that you went into such depth to prove your point about the irony of CB as an EA apologist (at least in your view) but can't see the irony in your own post (or maybe you can, but choose to ignore it?). I also find it funny that so many people get so worked up over everything that comes from EA and go out of their way to complain about everything that comes from them. For all you say CB is repetative and defensive about, the same can even more easily be said for those who rerun the same complaints over and over in every thread. I would imagine (and this is just a guess) that CB posts so many seemingly "pro EA" because it stands out amongst all the blatent and childish hate. Maybe he's just not a negative guy? The "blah, blah, blahs" you reference are normally in what I believe is a sincere effort to help someone enjoy the game more. I thought that was one of the main point of these forums? I dunno...lol

I've seen him be critical of EA, but I'd agree he clearly likes the game overall. So what? You say it's cute to you that he has a so-called lovefest with EA. I find it cute that it bothers so many people. The fact is that for every post CB has that's "overly" positive, there are about 50 (that's underestimating too, IMO) that are rediculously negative. I'm sure this makes me an EA apologist or at least a countryboy apologist in your view, and that's fine. I honestly do get a kick out of how many people can't wait to call CB out for not hating the game.

a side note...and a bit more on topic...lol, I'd agree that it would have been nice to have the DLC (obviously) and it could have made the game better, but I seriously doubt it. I am one who was frustrated to see the CPU sliders go, but to be honest their effect was always minimal. Maybe it would have fixed "robo-QB," I dunno. The fact is though, that the DLC was never promised which is were I get off the bus on this EA blame tour. I just can't see getting so emotionally charged over something like "DLC that could've been", but maybe I'm just a loon.

Anyway...on with the crusade
