"A rookie defensive back sealed the fate of the Ravens today, sending the Titans into the second round of the playoffs in Madden NFL 10.

The Tennessee Titans (9-7) took on the Baltimore Ravens (10-6) in the opening game of the AFC Wildcard game today in a crazy back and forth game filled with dazzling special teams and defensive play. QB Joe Flacco threw an interception as time wound down that rookie CB Ryan Mouton intercepted with less than 20 seconds to go in regulation to seal the Titans victory."

You and I understand that , but everyone will understand a statement differently.

I know he cant get it perfectly, but certain aspects of the game should be solid by now, and that is the concern members have.

Ian, no need to get upset about people flaming the game here. I remember Howard Stern talking about a struggling radio personality who was having his balls busted. He said one of the reasons his show sucked is because he screened his calls to make sure nobody would say anything negative. Stern said if someone wants to call in and call him a ****** then cool bring it on. He wants to know what his fans are thinking at all times and it can be entertaining to boot.

Anyway, with that said you suck as a coach. 23 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, you were on offense and the Baltimore got flagged for defensive pass interference. The pass was completed and your WR reached the 44 yard line. However, the penalty occured at the 34 so you had an option to accept and have the ball at the 34 or decline and have the ball at the 44. You accepted which cost yourself 10 yards - LOL.

Also, I noted a penalty glitch with 4:30 left in the 2nd quarter. You had the ball with a 2nd & 8 on Baltimore's 49 yard line. Then after a run of about 5 yards you were called for a 10 yard holding penalty. The next play showed 2 & 16 and the ball was placed on your own 44 yard line. It should've been placed at your 41 with a 2nd & 18 correct?

One more glitch which is real petty and I don't really care if it gets fixed but thought you'd like to see it. The numbers on the screen don't match up. Was it a 36 yard TD or 37 yards?

Also, props for posting these vids. You gave me something to do on a boring Friday night so for that I thank you. I think things are going in the right direction with Madden and they have the right man steering the wheel.

Good vids Ian.

+Loving the over the shoulder catches
+QB over throws are sick
+ presentation is looking good
+The Emotion looks and sounds bananas
+Route running looks improved
+ QB stances!!!

-Defense looks weak
-Too many broken and missed tackles! There needs to be a higher success rate on juking in space than beaking out of tackles.
-Didn't see much Gang tackling??? Isn't that what good defenses do. swarm?
- One major problemn the blocking is horrid! Really takes away from proper defensive and offensive strengths. Is there not a bullrush animation where the DT can push a lineman 3 yards in the backfield to push the pocket. Especially on run plays I notice you can't really follow your blocks it seems like too many stalemates, FB's not getting a push on LB's, lineman missing blocks on the line

Did anyone notice at 7:15 of the 4th vid how Ian lit up Todd Heap. U got jacked up!

All in all I already have this game pre-ordered especially after the E3 vids (thanks to coachazzkickin on youtube) so off tomorrow to buy an iphone.
Keep sending vids out Ian.

Kick Return Can be better, the returner should be running into a group of both teams and shooting through a crack if they block right or he should have an outside wall by his blockers. To much smoke coming from the players they look like steam boats. Assistant coaches talking to the players on the sideline nice!

The Man D still don't cover PA fb and the TE running a 5 yard in ( burned Ray Lewis).

Exactly that's all people are really saying but with a few adkistments this is well earned $60

I dont post much here but I read a ton of posts. Overall, pretty impressed with everything. An after reading Ians newest post regarding the past rush, I am not too concerned about that.

One issue i have though is that Kerry Collins looks NOTHING like his real life counter part. Neither does Flacco. Does this bum anyone else out?

So I busted out the stopwatch because after the first half, it seemed as if the QBs had wayyyyyyyyy too much time to throw. I wanted to find out what the average time was from snap to throw for all the passes in the second half.

The results of my little test are rather interesting. First, the overall combined stats for Collins/Flacco:

12-28-4INTs-1TD..called back for holding.

The pass plays: time to release/result

3.0/inc
2.4/int

3.1/Comp...holding penalty
1.4/Screen complete CJ
3.3/Inc

2.8/Comp Heap
2.9/Inc.

2.4/Inc.
1.8/Screen complete CJ

3.2/Int. (Harper)
2.7/Inc.

3.0/Int. (Reed)

4.7/Inc.

4.0/Comp Scaife

2.4/inc
1.8/McLain
1.9/Mason
3.3/inc
3.0/Mason
2.9/inc.
2.6/Williams
2.3/Peerman
2.1/Williams
5.1/Inc.
2.6/Inc.
3.5/TD....holding
2.8/inc.
2.0/INT.

This averages out to less than 3 seconds from snap to throw. Additionally, quite a few of the passes were thrown under pressure. The pressure also caused a fair amount of incomplete passes.

I know the blocking and line play does not appear to be perfect, but based on the results it seems that it may be less of a problem that a lot of people think.
^Great Post^

The thing people here is talking about. They will want a patch, to make it the way it is in the vids. Its easy to see things when your not playing.

When your chillin with your bud, and he's playing online. All game you say why didnt you throw it there, x was open? Why did you role out you had time. On and on and on!

Then when you play, its not the same. You dont see the stuff you saw when, you was just watching.

We talking about the pass rush when, none of us as played the game. HOW?
I have alot of respect for, Ian. To post vid to show where the game is going, then to get this. SAD
He could have just sat back and showed nothing, and 90% of you would be a walmart at 12am to pick it up.

The way some of you are talking, we're going to get Madden 03 again. I dont care how hard you try or want it will never be sunday NFL football. **** they dont know what they are going to get on sundays. The IA will never ever never do what a real person to 100% of the times. Real people cant do it, so how could the Ai?

Then talking about Johnson running on B-More. If i recall, he was running all over them till he got hurt. NFL Replay will show it soon

Alot of you needs to chill, and enjoy the ride. Come on Ian, drive us home.

Hey Ian, thanks for the full game vids. Ive watched the first quarter and read this thread (every effing post). Wanted to pose two questions to you, if you even still look at this thread

1) With last years pick fest, do you feel the CPU throws too many picks, and if so is it a result of pressure?
2) a follow up to question 1, does the CPU ever take a sack, or is it programmed to get the ball out of there. This might help the pass rush issue if the QB doesnt try to throw the ball. Sometimes its best to just tuck it and take the hit.

Will watch the rest of the vids. THere are some great things in the game this year.

no ticker updates from around the league?

Tackle on a toss is right next to a guy and has good position for atleast a push but does not touch him. 4-4 made it over The offense is on the sideline in a cutscene but their on the field too. Punt Return has the same problem as Kickreturn...Why do the guys on the line jump when they have no chance at blocking the punt? instead they should be running down the field blocking.

DB is right there to pick the ball on a curl but it looked like it went right through him. PA rb is wide open against man.Bootleg is smooth by Collins and the wr Jumped for the ball comes down with it In double coverage. Good Push by the Dline on GL situations. Players on the sideline folding there arms. Harper stayed with the wr on a out route, got burnt on a drag route bad, then came back and stayed step for step with mason nice.

so when the cpu picks the ball off the Db turns into LT
Have you ever played DB?

If you did you wouldnt have put that.

For the most part DBs have the best feet in the game. The only position, that has to run backward the whole game.

Then try and run and cut with players just as fast t as them.

WOW
.

just because they have good feet and are fast doesn't mean they have vision... and it also doesn't mean they can juke or spin very well.... not sure what your thinking is?? Yes they are athletic but they are not a running back for a reason...

With all that was said in this thread and the KC ATL thread I will ask you ALL some questions and please, answer it honestly...

Between the way the games played out, and the teams involved, what was the distinguishing difference that seperated the games one from the other ?

Was there any more of a pass rush seen in one game over the other ?

Which player on his team set himself apart form the other players on his team or his peers on the other team ?

Did the stars shine for their teams ?

# 395 SeaNNyT @ 06/13/09 12:13 AM
A couple things I haven't seen brought up, then again haven't read every page.

1.) Kickoffs are going too deep into the endzone almost every time with a little 3mph wind

2.) Many occasions noticed the QB not stepping into their throws when they clearly had the room and time to do so, don't know if its an animation not triggering or what. Also to add to that, they need to point their front foots toward the target they are throwing to, which is a basic and fundamental technique when Quarterbacking.

# 396 KyGamerLT @ 06/13/09 12:23 AM
Van stops the Draw for negative yards, straight route to the sideline in bunch formation is nicely guarded in man. Toss to the right still looks to deep. QB stepped up but still showed bad accuracy on the pass resulting in a pick nice job. HB slant routes out of the backfield will be a problem in man the LB's don't guard it. A lot of holding calls,Good angle on the toss the AI started to cach up.

RB got stuck on a block and stood still on the screen play. Drag routes are eating up man D, Hearing the crowd talk in the background and make noise is a nice touch I think it is louder this year. Underthrown ball from Collins nice.

Will playoff games have special intros and atmosphere with planes and stuff, or is that Superbowl only?

Vision = keeping an eye on the wr + Qb +other wrs that run near you. If that dont = Vision i dont know what vision is.

juke and spin. do you know what turn and run is? or open your hips? What about getting around a blocker to make tackle?

If you did you would say waht your saying.

But, I can see you really dont know what it is to play db.

Just so you know most nfl dbs played hb, wr, and qb in highschool.

FSU wanted Dunn as a Db.
Marshall Faulk went to SDSU cuz, all the big schools wanted he to be a db.

# 400 Vikes1 @ 06/13/09 12:28 AM
Madden '10' looks much improved over '09'.

Yeah...a bit concerned about the defense in general. But it's unwise imo, for me to pass judgment due to one game. But overall...I'm quite pleased with what I saw.
