NBA 2K14: No Multi-Team Control in MyGM, Some Features Not Moving Over

NBA 2K14 on next-gen consoles.

As much good as we have heard today from the folks at 2K Sports, and there has been a lot of that, we just got word that there will not be any offline multi-team control options in MyGM which is replacing Association mode. There was some hinting it could come back in future editions, but for this year's title don't expect to be able to play with more than one team in offline MyGM mode.

Also Aaron is reporting that there are some features which are in current gen NBA 2K14 which won't be making it over, but no word on what those are from the folks at 2K.

For those curious about MyGM mode, know this. I only covered about 5% of what this mode is at the press event. This was a bigger media event, one where a large number of the attendees aren't exactly highly interested in the meat and potatoes of a mode like this. I simply provided an overview of what our philosophy was.

We'll be going into MUCH more detail (you know I will take care of you guys here) on what we've done in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

The takeaway you should have right now is MyGM is Association on steroids. Multi-user had to take a backseat for a minute while we rebuilt the entire foundation of how a franchise mode works. I assure you, this is all for the greater good. Leftos and I will make sure you're all happy at the end of the day.

P.S. For those who aren't into the concept of interacting with staff, players, etc., a Season mode (with variable season lengths) IS available so you can just focus on playing games and moving players around where you see fit.

Really disappointing this...was so much looking forward to it but this has knocked me back a lot.

I like to play tv director and GM and be able to pick and choose any games to play/watch as cpu v cpu.

Hopefully league pass is still in the game giving us the ability to watch/play any teams games....I just hate 1 team GM modes...getting knocked out of the playoffs to be told who has won...imagine if the tv companies did that and your team was knocked out or didn't make the playoffs and you weren't allowed to watch the finals because your team isn't there....it's a similar thing for no multi user mode, particularly if we are restricted to just that teams games.

I am on the fence about this. I think that offline association with multiple teams is awesome, and have many good late nights spent playing it. However, I usually only start doing these after the game starts to get a little stale. And it seems that the going stale point for this has been pushed WAY WAY WAY (WAY^19th) far back with all the new improvements to everything else. Plus, it's going to be back in a year probably anyway. So honestly, I think I will be just fine exhausting the potential of all the other modes, and probably filling in the voids of offline association with Online MyGM perhaps? Either way I think the loss is more than made up for. I don't see how people won't buy this game for only that reason, it's still gonna be an incredibly new and more in depth basketball game. I don't get how any basketball fan could be disappointed.

So to the guys who say this is a deal breaker, will you not be buying a basketball game this year? Or will you buy live? What if Live incorporates Connected Careers?

I'm still buying it since the improvements are good enough to justify. It just looks like I will have to stick to exhibition, playoffs (if in), and myplayer sadly.

Multi-team Associations were a family/friends tradition. It's gonna be sad to see it go. But I play alot alone more, so it's not the end of the world.

For me, considering this was the game that was going to affect whether I went next gen or not right away I probably just won't be buying a basketball game. If I bought a PS4 or Xbox One then I would've tried Live out as well just to see how it played. But from what I saw of Live it isn't worth a next gen purchase.

im still excited to play the game but that sucks, this is the way I spend most of my time playing the game unfortunately. As long as they know they HAVE to bring this back ASAP ill be ok for this year.

With so many great additions kind of disappointed this didn't get in really.

Im ok with this, AS LONG AS, they are able to carry over rotations that you set with the rosters. Only. Reason I control all teams is to manage rotations bc the cpu does dumb stuff or has things as we all know, like manu starting. So if they have fixed this and trade and sign logic il be good with it. If not. Guess ill be playin a lot of exhibition or startin a playoff and playin all games(if they even put playoff mode in)

Or will we be forced to use the 2K rosters and play books?

I don't like this but at this point it doesn't effect me. Usually, I only use one team anyway but not always. However, please leave CPU vs CPU in PLEASE. I also hope they leave in letting the CPU take care of our scouting and a few other things. I only like to manually do trading, re-signs, free agency, drafts, and staff hiring, I like the CPU to do everything else.

I think 2K 's intentions by doing this was to have 100% of the users to experience all that they have added to MyGm with the stories and added features in this mode. No better way of guaranteeing this will happen then by not giving an option to skip over this. I think it's a good strategy considering all that they have invested in this mode. I think it shows the confidence they have with this mode and think we will all get a great deal of enjoyment out of it.

Can anyone confirm whether myGM mode still lets users play any game on the schedule or are they stuck playing their Teams games only.

No way the show takes that option out. for one, they have like 5 more months and for two they probably have the best sports game going right now.

This does suck for next gen tho. I like having a 3 man sim dynasty where we each play 4 games and sim the rest. meh oh well

I had to run a 30 team Association because of the terrible trade, draft and FA logic. If they are going to take it away, they better have completely rebuilt those aspects from the ground up so that using more than one team isn't necessary anymore.
