NBA 2K14 News Post

NBA 2K14 on next-gen consoles.

As much good as we have heard today from the folks at 2K Sports, and there has been a lot of that, we just got word that there will not be any offline multi-team control options in MyGM which is replacing Association mode. There was some hinting it could come back in future editions, but for this year's title don't expect to be able to play with more than one team in offline MyGM mode.

Also Aaron is reporting that there are some features which are in current gen NBA 2K14 which won't be making it over, but no word on what those are from the folks at 2K.

UPDATE: Erick Boenish, AKA SimBaller had this to say...

For those curious about MyGM mode, know this. I only covered about 5% of what this mode is at the press event. This was a bigger media event, one where a large number of the attendees aren't exactly highly interested in the meat and potatoes of a mode like this. I simply provided an overview of what our philosophy was.

We'll be going into MUCH more detail (you know I will take care of you guys here) on what we've done in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

The takeaway you should have right now is MyGM is Association on steroids. Multi-user had to take a backseat for a minute while we rebuilt the entire foundation of how a franchise mode works. I assure you, this is all for the greater good. Leftos and I will make sure you're all happy at the end of the day.

SimBaller

P.S. For those who aren't into the concept of interacting with staff, players, etc., a Season mode (with variable season lengths) IS available so you can just focus on playing games and moving players around where you see fit.

What do you think of no multi-team control offline in 2K14 next-gen?

I hope having custom rosters isn't one of the features that didn't make it from current gen to next gen, that would be a big deal for me. I haven't heard anything about roster sharing or any ability to edit players yet.

I only like to manually do trading, re-signs, free agency, drafts, and staff hiring, I like the CPU to do everything else.
Me and you play Association the same way. We need more details about MyGM mode ASAP! I'm seriously thinking about waiting for OS feedback before getting the next-gen version after this Press Event. Before today, I was ready to preorder.

Well there it goes, skin tissue and kelvin measured LCD backboards may be nice for some, but no multiple team association breaks it for me. I guess I'll save some money this year on not buying a PS4 after all.

To me this is like being forced to only stay on the main roads and standard story missions when Im playing GTA 5.

PLease god I hope they haven't axed a ton of the sliders/Tendency/Playbooks/Coaching Options

The point is, why respond to a blog by saying 'you don't care'. If you don't care then move on & let the people that do care make their point so that developers can recognise the impact of their decisions to omit features that have been a staple in their product up to this point.

To me, being able to control other teams would let me do realistic nba transactions during the season and adjust rotations for each team (because cpu adjusted rotation have always been bad and merely rating based). it's a part of freedom that is taken away, i'll be waiting for 2k15

Role playing features for mygm are all well and good, but they better have finally improved the sim engine for results when simming.

This exactly, all you guys complaining about a mode will buy the game just for the visuals alone...watch

I am a bit disappointed they did this, but I don't have the money for a PS4 anyway. I think 2k12 can hold me over until at least next year.

I agree with others that this took the wind out of my sails. I always run Association with all 30 teams with the main purpose of adjusting rotations and avoiding CPU trades and other personnel decisions. Additionally, I like to play games of interest on the schedule as opposed to just the games with one selected team. It will really suck if we cannot turn off CPU trades, adjust non user controlled rotations and play other games in the season. I planned on the PS4 primarily for this game so I am definitely interested to hear mode detail on the mode.

This is a bad move by 2k and again they show association people no love. I use 30 teams to make all the transactions that happen irl. They are trying to center everything around this my player junk. All I wanted was a sim association not "d23x" as a damn GM..

# 55 Cowboy008 @ 10/23/13 08:45 PM
It's fine with me because I only control one team anyway.

True but all these are role playing features. No word on whether the disastrous potential system has been addressed, specifcs of CPU logic (trade, FA, draft), the poor rotation logic, the medicore stats engine and TSC etc.

# 57 supermati @ 10/23/13 09:14 PM
I'm also worried about VC dominating the game mode. VC only worsens the game experience. And sadly I am not talking about Vince Carter.

Anyone know if we will be able to play couch co-op in MyGM mode? This a big reason why I buy sports titles every year.

Also sorry if this has been asked already. There has been a huge flood of information and posts, but I haven't found anything on this.

I don't think you quite understand why many are upset about it.

The majority of us who use multi team, it isn't actually because we really want to. It's a neccessity because of the horrible CPU logic. If they actually fixed their logic we woulnd't need to run more than one team.
