As I've gotten older the beauty of games really shines thru when the visuals and the gameplay/presentation work and look beautiful together. That's why THE SHOW has been so stunning on the PS3.

I sure don't want a game as visually deep as Ryse if the tradeoff is Ryse' gameplay. To me, it ends up feeling ugly.

The Show on PS4 looks great. The devs have a gorgeous looking game. With the new power, the gameplay/animations/RTTS depth is the next frontier, imo.

I agree, I'm impressed with the overall quality except for the player models. The stadiums and field are life-like however the players look cartoonish and very much ps3ish. I know they'll get better in the future, they are FAR away from reaching the limits on the PS4.

The ps4 version is going to rule graphically. But what we all need to understand is that the next truly great leap in gaming will come with UltraHD. We are getting pretty close to the wall with 1080p. But for what we have now is incredible. TRY to enjoy it.

Night time self shadowing on players (PS3 has none)
New hair tech that creates individual hair stands
Grass with geometry (PS3 is a flat surface)
New dirt particle effects and dirt clumps

Plus every new feature that was introduced on PS3. That's quite an achievement for 75 man development team creating three skus in 9 months. When one of them had to be built from the ground up.
Since facial hair is its entirely own system, is it possible to change/alter/remove the facial hair from existing MLB players? (I.e. if Napoli went to the Yankees, he'd have to shave off that beard)

No you can't (and will never be able to) edit the appearance of real MLB players.

I wont lie, whenever I watch a baseball game, I get the urge to fire up the game and more times than not, that is exactly what I do. I caught myself watching the Yanks on my ipad on mlb.tv while I play the show
With all the hype for the PS4 version I think the PS3 version is getting a little overlooked. The difference between last year and this year, while small, added up to make a great game this year. Even graphically there seems to be some small changes that made the game look better and play better. When it's all added up I think this year's version is the best yet on the PS3 generation.

To take that "base" and do what the did with the PS4 version is an accomplishment that "other" studios wish/hope they could achieve. Not to metion that a 75 person Dev studio created not one or two SKU's but three of them.

I don't know about you guys, but they earned my $160 (PS3/Vita/PS4). If the PS4 version plays like it's little brother I will be extremely satisfied. I know in the coming years things I would like, more/better animations, weather/rain delays, MiLB stadiums/parks, equipment, retractable roofs (or at least open closed versions), etc will come, but that's all window dressing in the scope of the game.

I unfortunatley have not had the pleasure of buying the show in a couple years due to low funds but this year is different. I have some dough and cant wait to play this game been waiting impatiently for may 6th. It is amazing to see how far sports games have come. I think its funny what we complain about these days in terms of content. Hats off to Scea for what they have accomplished with the show its an amazing game keep doing what you do fellas.

Oh quick question since i havent played the show in a couple years are there in game saves?

That's ashame , all you would have to do is enable us to change hair/facial hair styles and keep everything else locked. We the customers would be happy, you would still get your money, and everybody wins.

Just nitpicking, but when I see the outfield crowd at night in St. Louis it seems to be a bit too dark, like there is no lighting on the crowd. Seemed strange. Anyway, everything else looks sweet. Thanks for the livestream.

Yes you can save your game and finish it later. I don't think you can in rtts, but you can in regular gamers.

This sums up what everyone who is expecting more is seeing, but they do not know it.

There is only so much you can do at a certain point. We have gotten to the point where the "little" things are what need to wow us, because there is so little room for improvement graphically.

I am happy with what I see for year one of the next gen, for whatever that matters.

I'm not sure you understand how this works it's a players face which is his likeness. You can't edit those things per MLB rules.

I know what you mean, but even thou i watch at least 80% of the cardinal games and have been to more games than i can remember. I honestly couldn't tell you on how it looks on t.v. Or live, to say whether or not its too dark. I guess you really don't pay attention to stuff unless they are relevant to a situation much like this. But for what i saw in the live feed, looked great to me even if it is actually too dark, that lighing makes a world of difference at night games, it had so much more of a real broadcast feel. Now with the addition of ballpark village i can definitely say the out field stands would be too dark because that place is all kinds of lit up and would very much bring more light over the outfield blenchers.

So by this logic, ps4 graphics will never look much better than ps3?
Even though nba 2k 14 on ps4/xone looks like a totally different game than ps3/360 versions.
And Madden 25 looks completely different next gen.
