NBA 2K17 will feature league expansion for MyGM and MyLEAGUE modes. Check out the details in the new blog from Erick Boenisch, AKA SimBaller.

For anyone who has read my blogs in the past, you know that I am serious about MyGM and MyLEAGUE. I'm blessed to work with a core group of people who share the exact same level of passion. We've done a LOT of work to these modes this year, and one feature I can't stop talking about is...League Expansion. This is entirely new to NBA 2K17, and is the feature I want to tell you about today.
Another reason why this game is so great. Not just a ratings fix but a game that is fundamentally different from it's predecessor each year. Was going to wait to buy the game but I Pre-ordered because of this
they need to make custom rosters universal instead of having it restricted to each system.
Seconded wholeheartedly.
This would be a huge help to PC players (like myself) who don't have nearly the roster-creators that are on the consoles. If they would make roster creation universal -- or at the very least provide some sort of conversion tool between the systems -- it would open up a lot of possibilities.
All of this sounds great all, but what would really give me all the reason in the world to buy it would be an online MyGm mode. One where you & friends can play multiple seasons with a draft & all. What would be better than that? I love the game, but it lacks in that department & its not like it can't be done because Madden is giving it to us every year. I never play Mypark or Myplayer because i more like team building. I go to the real park if i want to play with a bunch of randoms who don't pass and play no D lol. We need this so bad as 2k fans. MyGm is better than Maddens Gm mode overall, but Maddens is online so i find myself playing that with my friend more. It must be done if I'm gonna keep buyin this game!
I am not sure. Remember them more during the 2K10-2K11 ones. Before then, I was a offline player until 2K9 and I was mainly on teamup.

If memory serves me correct there were ranked lobbies in NBA 2K8. There were Pro, Superstar and Hall of Fame lobbies and they were 100x more active than 2K10 lobbies. I agree 2K should bring back lobbies. Who cares if ppl cheat their way in the leaderboards by playing scrubs or their friends or families. It's not like it matters cause we all know Pro-Am is the big fish where money is involved.
As expected no word about Online Leauge / Association - as always.
So all the Online League Junkies - in my eyes the most realistic way to play NBA2K17 - have to wait if there is just a single season like in 2K16 or an Online League like the Online Association in 2K13 ( the definitely best online League in the NBA 2K Series )
I want / I need
- Fantasy Draft
- Salary Cap
- Offseason ( Draft Lottery - Draft - Free Agency )
- The power that the league admins could invite or kick users if necessary.
It would be real dope if you can develope you own plays for a real custom Playbook.

How is that anymore realistic than playing it offline? Online sounds good in theory, but I'd hate having to wait on others to progress. I did it in NCAA and it was fun with 2 - 4 people. But I don't think it was anymore "realistic".
Being able to download custom teams from the community is awesome, glad they added it so quickly after the customization options were such a hit last year. Also pumped to see playoff mode back.
Expansion doesn't interest me (the league already has too many teams) but the more options, the better. Plenty will enjoy it.
By the sounds of it your MyGM could expand without your input, dynamically on it's own. Also, the NBA could very well have 32-34 teams 10 years from now.
This news made 2k17 a day 1 buy for me, was going to GF it but now I know I'm buying. Now if they add the D-League, I'll be in heaven. Between, Madden 17, COD 4, 2k17, and BF1, I have no idea how I'm going to fit all those in.
Sounds great. I'll be going to 32 teams, adding Seattle Supersonics and maybe a Las Vegas team. Memphis into the East.
I'd like the NBA to go to 32 and bring back Seattle. 4 divisions of 8. Teams play each other twice = 62 games. Then their own division twice more = 76 game season. Knockout tournament with 32 teams works well then (David Stern Cup and the Michael Jordan Clutch Performer Trophy for tournament MVP).
I would love it if the awards and records page was expanded a bit. The stats for the NBA like all time leading scorer, most rebounds in a season and that stuff should be able to be seen individually for each team. I want to know if Steph or someone is the all time leader in points for the Warriors for example.
