Madden 2010 News Post

This week we are starting to go through the rosters and tune each individual player's body to match their real life counter part.

I know as a fan when one of your favorite players is wrong it can take you out of the experience.

So the question to you is: Which players need the most work? Please give specifics. On the flip side are there any players you wouldn't touch?

Thanks as always,

Mike Y

not sure if it was mentioned yet, but vincent jackson on the chargers seems to be a lot darker than he is in real life.

can we chill with the picture posts? I mean they have a photo library on hand...

If pictures were enough, we wouldn't be where we are now....

Then they should be able to get skin color right this year. Skin color IS a big deal.

This is a little bit off topic, but....

Is it possible you guys can give us the option to place tats on the players? It would take forever to get all of the players tattoo's right, but even if we had the option to edit them on it would be a HUGE difference.

Just a thought.

Scott Fujita is a lot skinnier than people think..but still pretty big.

This is for all players but in particular qb's there sleeves that hang should hang in madden not be crunced up on the players arm for example look at brett favres sleeves and copy that! In 08 even the sleeves that were supposed to hang didnt look right!

+1 on Qb's with untucked sleeves.

Dont enjoy every qb looking like they're jeff garcia.

Will LaDainian Tomlinson get his actual helmet? I mean I know some people don't like it but he does wear it.

Wow, some of you guys are too dedicated I think, haha. Lets keep it reasonable now. But somehow I am not surprised, this is the OS community after all

I'll just point out my biggest gripe with Madden player detail over the years, lineman body types. Kevin Williams on the Vikings was a blob in Madden09, way to round, even when compared to Pat Williams. More varied lineman body types, offensive and defensive. You have your Justin Tuck builds, Kevin Williams builds, and then there are the few like Pat Williams and Vince Wilforks out there.

I liked the mention earlier of QB sleeves and overall QB builds as well too.

Chargers:

LT

His pads and legs are a bit off. I think most of the models are plain and dont have much definition in them. You can clearly see it in his calf muscles. I dont know if you deal with the equipment aswell but LT wears mid cut shoes and he needs that facemask!!!

I think tattoos are important. IMO... it would make some players look much more realistic. I know it would take forever to give every player their own authentic tattoo(s)... but I think it would be a great idea to have a wide variety of generic tattoos you can give to players.

Also... not necessarily about player models... but it does go hand in hand - uniforms. There are teams (like the SB champion Steelers for example) who have black as their team colour... as opposed to the gold/yellow they should have.

I thought Sedrick Ellis was a little too fat, he's little bit more lean than they had him in 09. And I never knew why the rookies faces are never accurate. Does anyone else know?

Let us edit builds like we used to be able to. There are simply to many to list to be quite honest.

I think Michael's asking for specific body builds , so he can design the defaults ones too look good. And having Peyton looking like Peyton.

So 'out of the box' these players look authentic. And he wants to know specifics.

I don't think user body edits has been ruled out. And the more power for customization is needed.

And there are already generic body types in the game. Though they are not perfect.

One thing I'd suggest--and maybe it's already been mentioned--is add things such as mouth pieces or leg braces or hand warmers or clear visors, etc.

Larry Johnson, for example, looks very distinct because he always wear a white mouthpiece (disconnected from the helmet). Plaxico Burress, on the other hand, utilizes a mouthpiece that's always connected to his chinstrap.
