Madden 2010 News Post

This week we are starting to go through the rosters and tune each individual player's body to match their real life counter part.

I know as a fan when one of your favorite players is wrong it can take you out of the experience.

So the question to you is: Which players need the most work? Please give specifics. On the flip side are there any players you wouldn't touch?

Thanks as always,

Mike Y

HAIR!!!!

Hair needs to be longer and more free flowing. For example, Polamalu's hair in 09 is too short and looks like he has a hairband around it because it moves like a sausage. Make it more flowing with individual movement.

How much work goes into each individual player? Just curious

This is actually what makes NBA 2k so realistic to me. Each players body looks exactly what their bodies look like in real life. You can really tell the difference between each individual player. Maybe you guys can match that effort in this years Madden!
This is pretty accurate to what we do. We basically build a prototypical body for each position and assign it to the bulk of the players in the game. We then add on accurate height and weight.

We do have the ability to blend attributes in from other body types to create unique players. For instance if you had a QB with a the calves of a RB and a torso of a LB, that can be done.

Many skill positions got this extra attention last year, that is why some players like Peyton Manning look closer than others.

This year we are planning on getting to many more players, looking at game footage and our large NFL photo library to get all those players that don't quite fit into one of our molds.

it would be great if we could have the ability to change player models like the old days on old gen

little off topic but give us the option for white black or team color shoes just like we had on old gen as well.

Nice. I'd love to get a consensus list like this for every team.

Willie's lower back is something I always notice when I play the game. Its like hes got an extra 5-15 pounds all in love handles

If you guys brought over NCAA's Body edit options and made them bug Free( 09's flat out didn't work even post patches)...

That would help out a lot

Hey Michael, this is awesome you are doing this. I have some suggestions for the Cleveland Browns.

Josh Cribbs: Josh is more top heavy. He has a large upper body. He also wears pretty big shoulder pads. I think he should look bigger up top and smaller on the bottom. Hope that makes sense. Here is a pic to show what I mean.

Brady Quinn: I think he model needs to look a little more stocky. He isn't very lean, more built.

Shaun Rogers: Just needs to be huge. Not his gut, but his whole body.

Braylon Edwards: Needs to be taller, skinnier, and have that "V" shape to his upper body.

Somethings got to be done about Troy P's hair too

Its nowhere close to being accurate in Madden 09..It looks like some weird stick thing

and I know this thread is about the look of the body, but please for the love of God put the right Helmet and FaceMask on Eli Manning

I seriously believe someone at EA gives Eli Manning that freaking Rev Helmet and mask every year as some type of cruel joke

I agree...won't there be an option to edit body options in Madden?

Colts

SS Bob Sanders-The Hit Man has some major guns, in 09 his arms about the same as Bethea which is obviously not the case

TE Jacob Tamme-He's built like Urlacher, Tamme is a pretty thin TE, more like an over sized WR. Please fix the face also, he looks like a 40yr old man with a big 'ol beard.

DT/DE Raheem Brock-I think he could look a little more athletic, not too crazy about the current build

MLB Gary Brackett-looks a bit too skinny

Also, I think the shoulder pad need to be toned down a bit. It seems as if some players pads are way to wide and looks weird.

This is very good pic of his most players wear their shoulder pad and jersey.

Chicago Bears Indvidual Characters/Team need changes:
1)
2)
3)
4)
5)
6)

1) Mike Brown in Madden 09 has dark skin, and in real life it is much lighter.
2) Kyle Orton has never worn "tight" sleeves. He always wears them lose.
3) Oline Kruetz is also the wrong shade, he is to dark in Madden 09.
4) Urlacher's shoulders are too wide in my opinion. And . you guys don't have his tattoo
5) The Bears default away uniform should be all white. They wore that combination all year during away games.
6) The Bears defense does not wear sleeves in the cold, AT ALL. The coldest game EVER in soldier field (as pictured in number 6) shows two players not wearing sleeves. The players make a big deal out of it, and in franchise when its cold in madden 09 a lot of players are wearing sleeves.

Just to be Clear, this is more about the shapes of the bodies right???

Or Can we list some Equipment edits too??

Let's go O.S. this is something we need to get on! To me, many times player's bodies seem too bulky. I give Dallas Clark as an example, the guy is too big and clunky. RB's like LT look too huge as well. Their shoulders are too broad. That is one strange thing with 09 for 360, the players pad structure doesn't show through correctly as it did in the PS2 days... It makes them look like giant blobs.

Next issue is that there aren't any fat guys in the game. Lineman are perfect physical specimens in the game, while in acutallity, some are strong guys who have a gut (see Cowboys OL).

Hope this helps some.

WOW M.Y.!!! ok this is gonna be fun...

new orleans saints, here we go!!!
lets start off with reggie bush

face is 100% accurate as well as many other nfl stars in the game, the only thing i can suggest is that yall add a mouthpeice to him
body should be way more lean, bush is a lil too big on this game in real life he got the bird legs!!! yahhhmean??? nohomo!

colston now this guy is gonna make it tricky for all u guys because lately hes been leaning up but after an injury its clear as day that he has gain more weight, tough cookie...

drew brees, this one is easy, because everything is correct on him, hell all of the qb's are perfect for the most part, but i just wanna see drew's facial "mark", im not being funny, yall kno what im talking 'bout, u can see it just a little but i think it needs to be a bit more defined:

oh and i dont kno if this relats to the topic but the saints have these golden gloves and shoes that they wear at home game mainly bush and colston, man i would give u my stimulus check if u put those in the game!!!!seriously!

hope this helps, and thanks to all of u guys for taking our opinions and thoughts!!!!

I guess I never realized it being a Bears fan. Not many Bears players have tattoos.

Something I would like to see is length of arms, like for example Plaxico Burress. he has long and kinda skinny arms. the lenght of the arms could also play in the ability of the players, also It would be useful info during the draft in the offseason. Scouts in ESPN and the NFL Network always talk about the "range" of the players arms in DB, WR, DL, OL... it would be a nice addition I think.
