MLB 14 The Show News Post

Operation Sports reader tedus captured a few videos from his MLB 14 The Show hands-on in Taiwan. He also grabbed a couple of screenshots showing off the new front end, which confirms online franchise.

Below are a few of his impressions, after playing for 10 minutes. More info is sure to come soon, but until then, enjoy.
  • The field/batting camera changed!
  • Presentation almost the same!
  • Control felt good!
  • Base running animation felt some different!
  • Fielding felt more responsive

#2, we dont know that this version per se is a completed version. It could easily be a demo version. IDK since SCEA hasnt said one way or the other. Which brings me to.....
#3, SCEA hasnt said anything one way or the other on anything with their blogs or press releases or whatever.

So I wouldnt worry JUST yet until we know, see, hear, read more and get some real 1st impressions.
True although im not sure how much it will be improved on the ps3 due to space issues so i wouldn't worry if it was the " same "so to say.

Yeah... for example, I just learned that the Taiwan division of Sony is not called Sony Computer Entertainment America. I literally did a double take at "SCET"

But on a serious note, I really like the new menu layout, and its not even remotely similar to that NCAA thing someone else posted. Way more informative, better organized, and you have the subtitles within the necessary boxes, and relevant pictures, instead of just dumb logos and empty spaces.

Not to mention it looks prettier and more uniform, instead of the juxtaposition of randomly sized rectangles that NCAA calls a layout. What the heck is that?

(If you want to compare)
Spoiler

Agreed. Hopefully we'll hear more info soon. Presentation is huge for me though, maybe more than anything in the game haha

same as MLB13, similar to NBA Today where you play games on real schedule only thing is pitching/hitting lineups are hard to get accurate

I'm not sure if maxed out on memory had much to do with the amount(sheer amount) of audio in the game.
I'm sure more lines were added, but IMO the more important thing is the structure and timing of the lines as well as how they are picked to be presented.

What do you mean in terms of presentation?

I'm pretty sure The Show Live is the daily MLB lineups with the scheduled games that you can play as the lineups are announced.

I'll be honest, I had no idea that was in last year, hence my reaction to just seeing this in The Show 14! Last year I did the OSFM and then when the set was relased when right into franchise.

Well the presentation that I am talking about is mostly in game stuff. Like Stat Overlays, Overlays for things like Home Runs and other things like how the batting lineup is given at the start of the game and Pre and post game shows with highlights sort of like NBA 2K has.

Just hoping for an even better presentation that makes you really think you watching a real baseball game on TV. You know what I mean?

By no means am I saying the shows presentation is bad in anyway I just think it could be improved greatly.

He said that this was the PS3 version he was playing in the title screen. I took it to mean presentation was the same as 13 on the PS3. Which is just fine in my book.

I know that a lot of you probably don't care but I'm wondering if he's even allowed to have recorded video at all at the event? And post it?

An early build? And before SCEA SD releases any themselves?

He might be so don't get me wrong, but I seriously have to doubt it.

He did say he recorded the video already, so who knows.

All I know is if he posts it on youtube I'm saving it as soon as possible in case it gets taken down.
