MLB 14 The Show News Post

Operation Sports reader tedus captured a few videos from his MLB 14 The Show hands-on in Taiwan. He also grabbed a couple of screenshots showing off the new front end, which confirms online franchise.

Below are a few of his impressions, after playing for 10 minutes. More info is sure to come soon, but until then, enjoy.
  • The field/batting camera changed!
  • Presentation almost the same!
  • Control felt good!
  • Base running animation felt some different!
  • Fielding felt more responsive

But if you feel it really needs no improvement then I guess you cool with dropping $60 for updated rosters and a new cover guy?

Most of us here already knew that Woodweaver, but thanks for taking the time to bring certain people back down to Earth with a little dose of reality!

Shhhh...

Nobody is supposed to know about WoodWeaver's split personality.
Or is it that he's a Gemini?

Perhaps i'm mistaken but i already saw a litter of new things in his footage, more attention to detail and polish. Somehow i even felt the player models reach a new level of life and resemblance. Certainly the Astros and O's ballpark surroundings looked much improved easily.

More striking to me, i saw incredibly fluid pitching delivery and in the very last clip i saw chalk residue rise up from a foul ball.

Man I am pumped, I love the addition of the pitch count on the scorebug. You could always check it by pressing start, but this is another little thing that is on just about every baseball broadcast on tv.... and it's easier than pressing start

This whole Oriole's helmet ordeal is seriously frustrating. It's been 3 years, when MLB2k got it right both years they had a game. So I really don't get it.

It appears to me that the Pittsburgh skyline is missing in the second video. Could it be that it's getting some additional work and wasn't ready to be put into the build on display here? Or is it more likely that PNC got a fresh layer of proverbial paint and they simply haven't added the old skyline in yet?

...or both? Either way that would be great for me personally as I've spent the last 7 years of my life in Pittsburgh and love that skyline and that ballpark more than words can describe. Even if I am jealous of the team that calls it home's recent success.

Or have I simply overlooked the buildings?

Blame the style guide and teams that refuse to update

Cue up the guy that says

" I have a hard time believing that"

But...this is an older build as well....and it just might not have been changed yet.

I made the point last year though that 2K wouldn't have gotten it right 2 years in a row if the style guide was outdated. Then when people made SCEA aware of the issue, they said they were "making a note for the next game." So hopefully its just because its an early build.

Just FYI.....

That doesn't mean that it is a "fixable" thing.

Last year I literally was posting (I believe it was sydrodgerdavid) with someone about St. Louis......walking to the dev in charge of uni's office....and showing him the pics that syd sent.(which is what St. Louis WAS indeed wearing)....The dev than showed me the entire catalog he could use from the guide ...and that uni was nowhere to be found.
In that case...there was nothing he could do unless St. Louis or the MLB updated his guide(which they had not before release)

There needs to be a sub-forum named "Style Guide".

I know you know more about this than I do, so if the style guide indeed doesn't have the white panel helmet included, does that simply mean 2K has been saying f-u to style guides for the past couple years? lol. I know its a subjects people hate hearing about every year, but still.
