MLB 14 The Show News Post

Operation Sports reader tedus captured a few videos from his MLB 14 The Show hands-on in Taiwan. He also grabbed a couple of screenshots showing off the new front end, which confirms online franchise.

Below are a few of his impressions, after playing for 10 minutes. More info is sure to come soon, but until then, enjoy.
  • The field/batting camera changed!
  • Presentation almost the same!
  • Control felt good!
  • Base running animation felt some different!
  • Fielding felt more responsive

I already know that. It's the same thing every year. I was just stating the obvious

So youre either SOL on all fronts, or youre jumping the gun just a bit.

Im betting on the latter.
Only feature I can see missing on the ps4 version is Sounds of the Show. Hopefully it can be used when Sony drops the firmware update

So far nothing has been mentioned, so it very well could be gone from the PS3 too.

We'll just have to wait and see.

I hope that's not the case. It was one of my favorite features.

I'm sure a ton of people on here like this feature (me included) I'm jumping to the PS4 and as far as I know it's gone (for now) hopefully they add more in game music (like they already have hip hop, modern rock, country etc.....) if they can add more variety to that and make it sound decent I can live with it.

Theres also nothing yet that says it isnt in both versions with the hopes that PS4 includes the capability in a future update.

Again, until word is official, NOTHING is legit.

I will take game play, physics, graphics, commentary over Sounds of the Show any day of the week so if it's not there it would not bother me any.JHMO

I LOVE IT! But I think I can live without it!

Oh of course it will be there.

I was simply wondering whether it was removed to change it or if it was removed due to changes in PNC Park itself and the same old skyline (which is already amazing in the game by the way) would be pasted into the background again.

I didn't mean to imply in any way that Pittsburgh was suddenly going to be a gaping black hole this year.

Oh okay I gotcha my mistake I misread what you were trying to say. Honestly, it could have been removed for any of the reasons you listed above. Guess we just have to wait and see.

Seeing as Russell said the feature set will be identical, does that include Sounds Of The Show? If so, its either in both or out of both?

As far as screenshots and vids:

I like the new front end menus a lot.

I like the new scorebug.

I like the 2k style batting cam.

I swear the graphics look better.

I like the new osds. [hoping for better/more stats in them though]

I don't like the same old game intros [hopefully something new happens there.

I guess Matt V signed a Cano-like length contract with SCEA.

Excited to see TruBroadcast 3.0

Read about 3 or 4 comments up!

Will we finally have a option to be able to have the Scorebug always on without it disappearing after the batter hits the ball? On real TV baseball broadcasts the scorebug is always showing even when the batter hits the ball.

It would great to have the option for Scorebug "Always On"

Looked more realistic to me, JMO.
O yes indeed the Ball physics look like they have been improved yet again. And I am pretty sure Sony tries to improve the Ball physics with each new release. And I must admit the Ball physics have come a long way since I first starting playing MLB The Show which in my case was 07 PS3 version

I dunno what game you've been playing, because the show is not the same thing every year. At all.

LMAO SMH you totally missed the point. Go back and look at what I said. NEVER did I say anything about the show being the same year in and year out.

He's saying some posters are the same...year after year...not the game.

Since I can't see the screenshots, can someone do me a favor and describe them for me? And how exactly did the menu change? Thanks!
