Madden NFL 16 News Post


A new tuning file has arrived for Madden NFL 16, this one is concentrated on the risk/reward factor for WR/DB interactions.

The much anticipated patch is coming very soon, so we will continue to wait for an official release date.

With that said, let's keep the discussion in the comments on point with a discussion on the tuning update and what it's doing to the game.

Next they need to fix thjs superman suction tackle crap thats been going on since release, other than i dont see much else to complain about tbat needs fixing.

Several games post tuner and there is no doubt run blocking is better for both the USER and CPU. I also noticed a lot more fumbles. Averaging around 3 fumbles per a game in the last 6 games I played. Hit stick tackles serve a purpose once again. CPU don't hit stick as often as a USER would but they do it a few times during a game where if you don't cover up you will fumble too.

One game I played against the Saints and caused 5 fumbles with the Seahawks. 3 on Ingram and 2 on Dree Brees. Pass rush is slightly improved but what I noticed is that they still stop short of sacking the QB on their own. For instance the Saints and Seahawks game. There were several times where the Seahawks defensive lineman would push the offensive lineman all the way back into Dree Brees face and they literally would get passed the blocker but immediately turn back into the blocker instead of going after Brees. So I simply would just switch to them once they made it passed the blocker to sack the QB myself to prevent them from turning back into the blocker. Got 6 sacks that way.

When you start sacking the CPU QB it changes their whole mindset. 1st half Brees was unstoppable. 2nd half when I started switching and manually sacking him myself, he was way more erratic with his throws. It would be cool if EA programmed the CPU QBs to roll out more when they been getting sacked a lot. That would be more realistic.

I will say that I started to notice fumbles post tuner. I can't say I had any with HB's before the tuner and in practice post-tuner I've had several.

Came here to post this^^^

Online I had 3 fumbles in one game and never before tuner update. It was exciting but the problem I had is the defense reacts a whole lot faster to the fumble even when they in a position to not be aware of the fumble and automatically b line it to the ball while the offenders stand there looking on.

Its just one game though but thats my observation.

I would say it is 50/50 when there is a crowd around the ball. More often then not though, the person closest to the ball who SHOULD recover the ball never does. But I had some instances where the offense recovered the fumble and times where the defense got it. To me though it just like a clustered mess when there is a crowd around the ball. You just see people standing there trying to scoop and run instead of diving on the ball. Got to the point I just USER dive towards the ball myself.

So they definitely need to tune that scoop versus dive on the loose ball logic. TOO many linemen try to scoop and run instead of diving on the ball.

Hmmm, for me, I just had to select 'Franchise' from main menu, then 'continue playing'. When I got back into cloud CFM, the franchise had not advanced and the game I was originally trying to 'in game save,' was there waiting for me to play from the beginning again. If you're still having trouble, u may have a worse glitch than me. Try quitting the madden app. Then, restart, select franchise, continue franchise. Or, select franchise, cloud, and load your CFM.

Ok, now I have played 3 games, post tuner, and I have to say that, indeed, human aggressive catch and 1 handed catches have been toned down. HOWEVER, NOW the CBs are making 1 handed grabs!!!!! Lol. I saw ZERO DBs make 1 handed grabs pre-patch, and now I have seen THREE in 3 games! 2 were in one game. Again, I'm not making a big deal about it, and it could just be the timing was weird, but for me, CPU DBs are playing better/tougher in general, and I am personally NOT able to hit anything deep, no matter the matchup. And, I have Julio jones, so post-patch is slightly disappointing for me as I want to see at least one per game from Julio and I don't care whether it's one handed or not, actually. But, the new challenge is good, imo, and I think I'll be able to adjust and start bombing to Julio, again, at the right spots.

I can say in oniine cfm the tuner didnt do jack like it did for the base gm and lther modes outside of cfm.

This tuner did absolutely nothing. WR's still have to touch the ball 95% of the time when it's in the air. Animations always favor the WR unless he's just not in the frame or the ball hits the defender in the chest. Also, they need to remove the animation where the defender catches the ball with two hands, and the receiver catches it anyway. This happens about 4 or 5 times per game literally and needs to be removed altogether.

Or they need to balance this aggression by turning the Defense interception up to about 75. That way when people make mistakes, (and they do about 65% of the time) then they won't get extra chances to complete aggressive catches. Because it's still completely overpowered. And I'm on the receiving end of this as well so I'm not just talking about it being done to me. I'm still dominating DB's with the catch when I feel the need to.

Second game since tuner I picked the jags for cmp and I was browns.

To me it seems this tuner did fix some issues but then caused others like others like myself have mentioned the running game is easy the jags rookie rb put up over 100 yards on just 9 carries he finished with 110 yards. I think he had like 15 carries.

But now with the passing it seems the cmp qb isent accurate..which now is still leading them to be one sided... Before the patch I was getting carved up by the cmp qb...and they had no running game.

Now they have a running game but no passing.game before tuner i was giving up near 400 yards passing now in these 2 games the cmp qb is struggling and are having to throw 40+ times a game but are only completing like 10-15 passes.

Before this i was having competive games but in 2 games I shut out lions 58-0... And beat jags 26-10.

Gonna try another game with maybe against arod or somebody like that.

No wonder the outside slant routes haven't been working as well with my TE's. Before they were jumping and grabbing everything

I've experienced the same things. Aggressive catching was obviously altered, but receivers are having a difficult time holding on to balls in traffic from short to intermediate distance - in a bad way. The CPU and I both experience drops, on average, 1 out of every 4 pass attempts. This is leading to downs and distances that favor the intermediate and long ball which is more difficult to complete now.

I find this to be the case in online H2H too. My last 6 games have ended with my opponet unable to generate more than 10 points.

Something about ball carrier movement has changed as well. It is if they tuned ball carrier agility and the result is more stiff players. I will probably just delete the tuner for single player use because I feel it plays a bit better for me.

I played multiple head to head games vs Os'ers before update and multiple since. Game seems to play the same. Running isn't easy, receivers aren't dropping more balls, one on one is not a catch as often, but I still feel like the safety plays dumb. No problems scoring either. I've played close low scoring games, blowouts and high scoring games. This is 15 minute quarter with 15 second run off. Game still plays good for the most part and defense seems better, but not by much.

I wouldn't say that the tuner did absolutely nothing. I am noticing a difference with DB's breaking up more aggressive catch attempts, but everything else you said is spot on. I completely agree about them needing to do something about that animation where the DB clearly has 2 hands on the ball in perfect position to make an interception & the receiver just magically comes down with the ball. That BS has to go! Some of these aggressive catch animations seem to be predetermined in the receivers favor (I've seen the ball warp in mid air like a magnet to the receivers hands). Also the one handed catches still need to be toned down. There should be only a handful of elite receivers that are able to trigger a one handed catch. How often do we see one handed catches in the NFL? Maybe once a week if that? I'm seeing 3 to 5 a game in Madden smh.

I like the passing mechanics & the DB/WR interactions but it needs work. It's EA's 1st time adding this to the game so I'm willing to give them some room for improvement. There also needs to be a lot more catching / DB break up animations added. I'm starting to see a lot of the same ones over & over. Hopefully they can continue to tune / patch the game until they get it right.

I think a huge part of this is the safeties feel more like they are programmed to look for pop ups from pass breakups by the corners then attack the ball during fly routes. I notice this constantly when playing the cpu. Theyll run cover 2 man and my outside receiver will still get past him and he will trail ever so slightly in hopes of grabbing a pick from a broken up pass.

As far as patch goes i feel the upped DB aggression in CFM tho i havent played a play now game as of yet. Running doesnt feel easier still putting up the same numbers i was depending on the defense im playing against. And as for aggressive catches feels like good players come down with the the ball more then scrubs do which is the way it should be.
