MLB 14 The Show News Post

Operation Sports reader tedus captured a few videos from his MLB 14 The Show hands-on in Taiwan. He also grabbed a couple of screenshots showing off the new front end, which confirms online franchise.

Below are a few of his impressions, after playing for 10 minutes. More info is sure to come soon, but until then, enjoy.
  • The field/batting camera changed!
  • Presentation almost the same!
  • Control felt good!
  • Base running animation felt some different!
  • Fielding felt more responsive

Actually...

In '13, the walls at Busch Stadium aren't a dark enough green.

In '13, the seats behind home plate are supposed to be green, but are blue (for some reason) after being red for as long as the series has been around.

In '13, the warning track is the wrong color while also being too small.

Like Knight said, you're too late. It's already onto the next step with many uniforms and stadiums.

We just want the game to be as authentic/perfect as possible. We make lists and post pictures of these flaws because we love this game. I'm already satisfied with the gameplay, so instead I focus on the aesthetics aspects of The Show.

I don't know why some people think it is a crime to want something included in a product you are paying for.

"There they go, wanting things again."

This is exactly the way i feel, why wouldn't you want those things to be in the game, that's the way it is in real life, so that's the way it should be in the game (as long as the devs have a way to make it happen). People asked for pitch count in the bug, and now it's there. People make these suggestions, no matter how tiny the detail, in order to improve the game.

Especially if you want something to look like how it should look. If it looks wrong, it looks wrong and it should be fixed or at least brought to attention.

I think it's the older crowd with the "there they go, wanting things again" mentality, because when they were younger, no games were even comparable to today, so to see people complain, it's probably crazy to them. But times have changed.

Loll, whatever, everyone wants to see things improved.

Some people care about this, and some people care about that.

And if you can't see that people prioritize different things, then i can't help you there.

You definitely can't help me....but it's has nothing to do with age.

I think it does, i bet if you got everyone's age on the last page of comments, it would be a pretty high average.

You may not know it's an age thing, but it probably is

1. I doubt it really has to do with age.
(I'm pretty old and I want things in the game)

2. My last comment was not about things being wanted or not cared about having to do with age....but you not being able to help me having nothing to do with age.

3. It was a silly, silly comment...and this is a silly, silly argument.

Goodnight.

All I see is PS3, photos, and video. I don't give two you know what's about last gen garbage. My PS4 is ready for MLB 14 and it better not be dumbed down because the developers wasted time with the PS3, and PS Vita versions.

Oh boy! Must we argue! I mean in the end all we want is a great work of art that is MLB The Show. That we can all agree on.

It is perfectly okay for people to make suggestions to what should be added/changed in game. Not everyone on the Dev team is going to be a hardcore baseball fanatic and may overlook small details about Coors Field that would drive a Rockies fan insane. It's only logical.

That said people need to look at it in a realistic light. You cannot expect a dev team to add every small detail. Often times other facets of development take first priority. In this year's case, the PS4 version of the game is likely going to take first priority with playability of the game taking precedent over some of the finer details. You want a game that plays well before you want a game that looks flawless.

So yes both sides are right. You are allowed to ask for additions to the game. That's how any successful business model operates: focusing on customer needs and wants. In the case of entertainment, that takes an even more pronounced role. But at the same time be realistic about it. All you can do is ask, don't whine or complain or downplay the quality of the product because such additions were not made (not accusing anyone of doing so). Simply keep it real and realize that many, many, many hours of hard work were put into building the game (from the ground up in the PS4 case). Don't forget development isn't flawless and they run into many hiccups and game breaking bugs that must be fixed before release too. Time is of the essence. They do what they have time to do. That's it. Rant over.

This game wouldn't be where it's at if it wasn't for having so many little things accurately portrayed and detailed. Give credit where credit is due.

Let's be clear here folks the PS4 version is the only one that matters. I have a PS3 and it's collecting dust my PS4 is hungry for MLB 14 and my fear is that splitting development time between the PS3, and Vita will be detrimental to the next generation version.

No offense to my fellow PS3 brothers but I don't want anything interfering with the PS4 version at all which will be the definitive copy to own.

We all have seen what happens when a developer releases more then one copy of the same game on next gen and last gen tech it's a disaster in need of patch after patch because the team was split instead of focused on one version.

Oh boy..
The PS4 version may be the only version that matters to you, but there are plenty of people who are not fortunate enough or who do not have the current funds to own a PS4. Many people are still satisfied with their PS3.

Thanks for the tidbits, Russel. I like the new dynamic cameras thus far. Really looking forward to my mind being blown with the PS4 graphics. Pretty much everything else is icing on The Show cake.

So glad to finally have a small amount of info on this game. We've been bone dry for weeks now.

Yeah, how dare them focus any effort on the install base that is at least 10 times larger!
