MLB 14 The Show News Post

Operation Sports reader tedus captured a few videos from his MLB 14 The Show hands-on in Taiwan. He also grabbed a couple of screenshots showing off the new front end, which confirms online franchise.

Below are a few of his impressions, after playing for 10 minutes. More info is sure to come soon, but until then, enjoy.
  • The field/batting camera changed!
  • Presentation almost the same!
  • Control felt good!
  • Base running animation felt some different!
  • Fielding felt more responsive

I'd rather they further reduce what's in franchise mode and instead make a more robust GM mode that has all the minute details that people are suggesting, as well as playing the games of course. Then people can have both, a simple multi-season mode or a more in depth GM mode.

Those features were removed not because of space or memory...but when they reworked franchise mode that year...they were cleaning out some old code and items that were basically dated and useless(the money aspect didn't effect your franchise really....it was more like dressing.)
Aaron_SCEA will likely re-introduce some aspects of financials to the game at some point...but only when it really means something.

I always wondered why, but didn't feel it was worth asking because I'd knew I'd get the "no one gives a rat's *** abut finance" comment LOL. thanks for that update chief. I'll spare you the "do you know anything about when" questions

I know, right? Man alive. The guys at SCEA who actually read through these threads to answer our questions and concerns and consider our ideas only to read through the most pointless banter.

I liked all of that stuff, but I do agree I would rather just wait until it can be implemented properly than have more pointless stuff to have to keep up with in my franchise. I think in a couple of years that we are going to be blown away by how many cool things are added to these modes like Road to the Show and Franchise, because they are already quite good.

Something to think about:

If the ps4 is really selling that much more than xbox one, i think i saw someone say twice as much, and that definitely wasn't the case last gen. Then that would mean potentially more people have the opportunity to buy the Show, which would lead to an increase in the Show sales presumably, at least in a few years when most people finally make the jump to next gen. This of course would mean more profits for Sony/SCEA then they were making last gen.

Right?

Didn't they also downgrade the stadium graphics somewhat in '13? Also didn't they cut back on some things things like the movement of the clouds and stadium flags?

You really think the park is bad aesthetically? I've always felt it was one of the more beautiful parks in baseball, from an on-the-field perspective. That wall (the arches and "windows") in left-center is beautiful, and the design of the background/seats in center & right-center are equally awesome.

Now if they would just do something about that ridiculously stupid anthill...

Right?
Maybe, but the sales of the PS4 have nothing to do with it selling more than xbox one. What if Microsoft ships/produces way less than Sony does. Who knows if PS4 sales will sustain at the level they are at. They do look good now though.

Looking back, not sure how accurate these numbers are the PS3 sold around 3.6 mil by March 31, 2007. It sold 4.32 mil by June 30.

If we go to the 2nd year of the PS3 it sold about 12.85 by March 31, 2008. Which would be the 2nd year of the Show on PS3. http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/PlayStation_3

So far by the end of last year it was reported that PS4 sold about 4.2 mil. That's a pretty big advantage over even March 31st 2007 number with 3 less months. So one would guess that the PS4 would surpass the 1st year totals (12.85) of the PS3 by March 2015 http://www.forbes.com/sites/sap/2014...than-xbox-one/

But in the end I think its less to do about how many PS4 copies they sell, but how many PS4 vs PS3 copies they sell. If more people are buying the game on PS3 they're probably less likely to move over to PS4 as fast.

I don't necessarily think this is true, but something happened. Just look at the retired numbers or out of town scoreboards in Miller Park, they're low res and ugly. It may have been a mistake though. I'm not sure.

I think they tried to go for being outstanding, and they nailed it. Do I think it's ugly? Not exactly. I just think it's random and weird. I love when the Giants play there, I just "don't get it" is all. The anthill, what? I love that it's there and it's super unique, but of some of the things they'd think to put in a baseball stadium, an escape route would have been the last of my thoughts haha.

It's pretty easy to see what posts are the most important -- just scroll through the pages and see which ones Russell has liked. No headache for me

I agree, I always thought it was one of the better looking parks in baseball. I love the Astros being in the AL now just because I get to play there more......and it's an automatic 3 straight wins. I kid the Astros fans.

Totally agree the PS3 version is looking great in it's own right so I just can not like you imagine how beautiful looking the PS4 version is going to be. Really those who will be stuck with the PS3 for another year really have no reason to be to upset that you can not play the PS4 version. You PS3 guys will have a great version of MLB The Show too just not nearly as pretty on the outside. But hey it's what's on the inside that is the most important.

I know you are trying to be sincere but it is not coming out that way. If I was on the other side of the equation I would tell you to take your ps4 and shove up your ***! Ha!
